Little Wonders Child Care - X'Mas Celebrations

Dear Little Wonders Families,

As we enter the festive month of December, we want to reflect on the exciting month of November and share some of the joyful events and themes we have in store for December!

November Highlights:

In November, we explored the theme of Seasons, which helped the children appreciate the changes in nature as we moved from fall into winter. Through hands-on activities, art, and story time, the children noticed the cooler weather, changes in animal behavior, and how we adapt our clothing for the season. We also honored Remembrance Day on November 11th with simple discussions about peace, kindness, and respect, and the children participated in a special poppy craft. It was a lovely time to reflect on the importance of those who serve to protect our freedoms.

A Look Ahead: December – Christmas Tidings!

We are excited to dive into the Christmas Tidings theme this month, where we will explore all things Christmas through fun, festive activities. Here’s a breakdown of our upcoming events and activities:

  • 1st Week – Christmas Symbols
We’ll kick off the season by learning about traditional Christmas symbols. The children will have the opportunity to create festive crafts related to these symbols, from stars and angels to wreaths and bells.

  • 2nd Week – Santa’s Workshop
During this week, children will engage in creative holiday crafts, such as making Elf Hats, Poinsettia headbands for girls and Poinsettia leis for boys, and even Santa masks! These will be ready to wear for our Christmas Merrymakings week.

  • 3rd Week – Christmas Merrymakings
Our third week will be filled with holiday cheer, including a Carolling Showdown on Monday at 2:30 PM in the OSC room! Preschoolers will choose their favorite Christmas song to perform, accompanied by rhythmic instruments. The Baby/Toddler group will join in by dancing to the rhythm of the music. We’ll also have Elf Hat Day, Poinsettia Day, Santa Mask Day, and a Christmas Party/PJ Day to end the week on a festive note.

Our Christmas Potluck Event is also scheduled for this week, where we invite all families to join us for a celebration and share their favorite holiday dishes.

Reminders:

Seasonal Clothing
As the weather gets colder, please make sure your child is dressed appropriately for outdoor play. We want everyone to stay warm and comfortable, so please pack hats, gloves, and waterproof outerwear. Our goal is to spend time outside each day, regardless of the season, and we want the children to stay cozy while doing so!

Christmas Holidays Closure
Please note that the Little Wonders Child Development Centre will be closed from December 23rd, 2024, to January 3rd, 2025 for the Christmas holidays. We hope you have a wonderful time with your loved ones and enjoy a well-deserved break. We look forward to welcoming everyone back on January 4th, 2025!

Special Request:
As always, we encourage families to share any holiday or seasonal traditions they may have! This helps us enrich our learning environment and allows the children to appreciate the diversity within our Little Wonders community.

Thank you for being a part of our Little Wonders family. We are looking forward to a joyful December and can’t wait to make more holiday memories with your children.

Wishing you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Warm regards,
The Little Wonders Team.
