Little Wonder Child Development Centre - Smiles at the Kindergarten

Dear Little Wonders Families,

This November, we’re excited to explore the theme of Seasons, a topic that introduces children to the wonders of nature’s cycle. Through hands-on activities, art, and story time, we’ll learn how the world around us changes throughout the year. This month’s activities will allow children to observe the shift from fall to winter, noticing differences in weather, animal behaviour, and even our own clothing choices. We encourage families to talk with their children about the changing seasons during outdoor time to reinforce these ideas at home. Please rest assured that we understand the importance of outdoor play for your child’s well-being and development, and we will ensure they are well-prepared for the colder weather.

Our center will also take time to honour Remembrance Day on November 11th, which is dedicated to reflection and gratitude for those who served to protect our freedoms. In our classrooms, we’ll discuss this in simple terms, focusing on concepts like peace, kindness, and respect. The children will participate in a poppy craft as a symbol of remembrance, helping them understand, in their own way, the importance of honoring those who came before us.

In observance of Remembrance Day, Little Wonders Child Development Centre will be closed on November 11th. We encourage families to use this time to commemorate and discuss the day in ways meaningful to them. Many families take this time to attend a community event, participate in a moment of silence, or talk with their children about the value of peace and the courage of those who serve.

As we settle into the colder months, please ensure your child comes to daycare prepared with warm clothing for outdoor play. We’re looking forward to a meaningful month of learning, and we thank you for being a part of the Little Wonders community.

Reminders

  • Seasonal Clothing: As the weather cools, please ensure your child comes with weather-appropriate clothing, including hats, gloves, and waterproof outerwear. We aim to spend some time outdoors each day and want everyone to stay warm and comfortable.
  • Family Traditions: If your family has any seasonal or Remembrance Day traditions, we’d love to hear about them! Sharing different traditions enriches our learning environment and helps children appreciate diversity. Your traditions are an essential part of our community, and we value the opportunity to learn from them.
  • Remembrance Day Closure: Our center will be closed on Monday, November 11th, in observance of Remembrance Day. This important day allows us to reflect on and honor those who have served to protect our freedoms.

Regular hours will resume on Tuesday, November 12th. We hope you find meaningful ways to observe this special day with your families.
